Sustainable tourism

Sustainable Tourism

Travel today.
Preserve Peru for tomorrow.

For Peru Grand Travel (PGT), sustainable tourism means creating experiences that generate value today without compromising the opportunity for future generations to discover, enjoy, and keep Peru’s cultural and natural heritage alive.

This vision is based on a shared responsibility between our company, travelers, suppliers, communities, and destinations.

That is why we seek to integrate sustainability into the way we operate through three deeply connected dimensions: protecting the natural environment, supporting local communities, and preserving local culture.

Our Approach

Three dimensions.
One shared responsibility.

01

Environment

Caring for the natural places and landscapes that make every journey possible.

02

Communities

Helping tourism generate value and opportunities within the destinations where we operate.

03

Culture

Respecting the traditions, knowledge, identity, and people who keep Peru’s culture alive.

01

Environment

Caring for the places that make every journey possible

Tourism destinations are an essential part of the traveler’s experience, but they are also part of a heritage that belongs to future generations.

PGT develops and promotes actions focused on waste reduction and responsible waste management, including semiannual solid-waste cleanup campaigns at tourist attractions.

These initiatives have included places such as Sacsayhuamán and routes connected to the 2-Day Inca Trail, with the intention of progressively extending these actions to other destinations and regions where PGT operates.

PGT also maintains an alliance with an organization dedicated to scrap collection in the city of Cusco, an activity the company seeks to encourage through economic recognition.

These are concrete actions within a much greater challenge: helping ensure that the places that make extraordinary experiences possible today can continue to exist and be valued tomorrow.

02

Communities

Creating value within local communities

Sustainability also has an economic dimension.

Whenever operational conditions allow, PGT prioritizes the participation of local hotels, restaurants, guides, transportation providers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and communities within its service network.

This relationship helps part of the value generated by tourism remain within the destinations through employment, local purchasing, service contracting, and community-based experiences.

PGT has also made specific financial contributions to support needs and infrastructure initiatives in communities with which it maintains relationships.

The goal is to move toward a model in which the growth of tourism can also contribute to the economic development of the people who make the destination experience possible.

03

Culture

Preserving the essence
of local communities

For PGT, preserving a destination means more than protecting its landscapes.

It also means respecting and valuing its identity, traditions, knowledge, and the people who keep its culture alive.

Experiences developed alongside communities seek to encourage respectful interaction between travelers and local people, helping ensure that tourism does not displace the very elements that make each place authentic.

This principle is part of PGT’s purpose:

Preserving the essence of local communities.

Travel Responsibly

Travelers are part of the change

Sustainable tourism also requires the participation of those who travel. PGT encourages travelers to adopt responsible practices related to waste management, care for tourist attractions, respect for local customs, and responsible interaction with communities.

The goal is not only to show Peru to travelers, but to encourage a way of discovering the country that values and respects what they encounter along the way.

Human Development

Sustainability also means creating opportunities for future generations

The sustainability of a community also depends on the opportunities and capabilities available to its new generations.

In 2026, this commitment gained a new dimension through Asociación IKIMEI, a nonprofit organization focused on the personal development of adolescents, young adults, and families.

Through personal development initiatives and Positive Discipline, IKIMEI seeks to help adolescents and young people strengthen their capabilities, find meaning, and discover purpose in their lives.

This social dimension complements the environmental and economic actions developed around PGT’s tourism activities.

Our Commitment

Looking toward the future

PGT seeks to progressively consolidate a sustainable tourism model capable of generating value for travelers and local communities while helping preserve Peru’s cultural and natural heritage for future generations.

This means continuing to strengthen environmental actions, increasing the participation of local suppliers and communities, developing social initiatives, and moving toward increasingly responsible and measurable management.

Sustainable tourism transforms the traveler’s experience, creates value for local communities, and helps preserve their culture, heritage, and natural environment for future generations.
