Tour Waqrapukara

Early in the morning, around 3:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive approximately 2hours and 30minutes hours toward Acomayo Province.

Along the way, we will pass through the Four Lagoons Circuit, where you can enjoy views of Pomacanchi, Acopia, Asnaqocha, and Pampamarca lakes. We will then continue for approximately 30 minutes toward Qenterococha Lagoon, located at around 14,100 feet (4,300 meters) above sea level. Here, we will stop for breakfast before beginning the hike.

After breakfast, we will start our trek toward the Waqrapukara Archaeological Complex. As we hike through the high-Andean landscape, your guide will provide information about the local environment, including native plants and wildlife that may be seen along the trail.

Upon reaching the first viewpoint, we will take a short break and enjoy our first views of Waqrapukara before continuing toward the archaeological site.

Once at Waqrapukara, we will have time to rest before beginning a guided visit of the complex. Your guide will explain the history of the site, its ceremonial and strategic importance, and the way its architecture was built around the natural rock formations.

After the guided tour, you will have some free time to explore the site and take photos.

We will then begin our return hike along a different and easier trail, which offers another perspective of Waqrapukara and the surrounding Apurímac Canyon landscape.

We expect to return to the starting point at approximately 1:40 p.m., where our transportation will be waiting. We will have lunch before beginning the drive back to Cusco.

Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Important: This tour takes place at high altitude and includes several hours of hiking. Travelers should be in good physical condition and properly acclimatized before taking part in the excursion.
