Our Story
An idea that began
before PGT existed
The story of Peru Grand Travel (PGT) began with an entrepreneurial idea.
While studying Business Administration and Tourism, our founder, Clever Ponce, already had the ambition to build his own company. His background in tourism helped him understand the opportunities of inbound travel while imagining a different way of welcoming travelers to Peru.
In November 2010, that idea became Peru Grand Travel. Even the name reflected an ambition: “Grand” represented the aspiration to build something greater and provide travelers with a high level of attention and service.

Our Journey
From a 12 m² office in Cusco
to a growing Peruvian travel company
More than a decade of entrepreneurship, learning, adaptation and transformation.
2010
The Beginning
PGT was born in Cusco with approximately USD 15,000 in initial capital and an office of just 12 m².
2010–2012
Building the Foundations
Two years were dedicated to suppliers, contacts, marketing and understanding tourism operations before selling journeys.
2012
Official Operations
PGT officially began operating in November, welcoming some of its first travelers from the United States.
2014
A Growing Team
The small operation evolved into a team of approximately five to seven people, with the United States and Brazil becoming important markets.
2026
Transformation
A new stage focused on applying years of experience to strengthen PGT and prepare the company for the future.

2012 | The First Travelers
When the idea became
a real journey
In November 2012, Peru Grand Travel officially began operations. Some of its first travelers came from the United States, including three friends who experienced a two-day program to Machu Picchu.
Soon afterward, other travelers arrived for the two-day Inca Trail, with Clever himself serving as their guide.
In those early years, there were no specialized departments. Clever worked across marketing, sales, reservations, operations, guiding, transfers and transportation, gaining first-hand knowledge of every stage behind a journey through Peru.
Growth & Learning
Growing also meant learning
Peru Grand Travel’s evolution did not follow a straight line. There were periods of growth and others of contraction, each requiring the company to learn, adapt and continue developing its capabilities.
Processes
A stronger operation
Years of experience helped PGT refine the processes and coordination behind each travel experience.
People
More specialized talent
As the company evolved, its team developed new capabilities and increasingly specialized roles.
Technology
Evolving with the industry
New technologies became part of the way PGT organizes, coordinates and continues improving its operations.
But the deepest transformation was not simply about becoming a larger company. PGT came to understand that its purpose needed to live throughout the organization — in its people, decisions, processes, experiences, partners and relationships with local communities.
2026
A new stage
of transformation
After years of growth and learning, 2026 brought a new challenge for Peru Grand Travel. A significant decline in sales led Clever Ponce to return to the direct management of PGT, opening a new stage of review and transformation.
Rather than returning to the starting point, this stage represents an opportunity to apply everything learned through years of operation and build an organization better prepared for the future.
Today’s PGT is very different from the company that began in a 12 m² office. Its processes, people, capabilities, technology and structure have evolved — while its purpose and values remain at the heart of the organization.

The Story Continues
From Cusco to a vision
for Latin America
From an entrepreneurial idea born during university years to the company it is today, PGT’s story has been shaped by entrepreneurship, learning, adaptation and perseverance.
Peru Grand Travel continues writing its next chapter with a long-term aspiration: to become one of Latin America’s most outstanding tourism companies, recognized not only for its travel experiences and level of service, but especially for the purpose that guides its existence.
