Itinerary

Day 1: Super sacred valley of the Incas, Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Salineras and Ollantaytambo - in a group

We will start the day by visiting the picturesque town of Chinchero, where the remains of Tupac Inca Yupanqui’s royal farm are located. You can see well-preserved Inca walls in the main square. We will have the opportunity to enter a textile art center to see the presentation of the textile art that they have practiced since the time of their ancestors.

We will continue the journey to go to the experimental agricultural terraces of Moray. Group of circular terraces measuring up to 150m deep. According to historians, these buildings constituted an important Inca agricultural laboratory since their platforms were built with their respective irrigation canals, each one having a microclimate. What draws the most attention is the difference in average annual temperature between the top and bottom of the depressions, with a difference of up to 15ºC.

Next we will go to the colonial town of Maras which preserves its Andean traditions and customs. We will be able to appreciate its beautiful architecture and its houses with colonial-style stone doors.

We will continue to the Salinas de Maras. These mines continue to be explored to this day where peasants have worked daily since Inca times.

We will pass through Urubamba where we will take a lunch break. We will taste typical Peruvian cuisine with a good variety of dishes including salads, soups, hot dishes, the famous ceviche and delicious desserts. After lunch, we will visit the architectural complex of Ollantaytambo, a living settlement built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it against invaders. We will have the opportunity to walk through its streets and get a clearer idea of what this military, religious and cultural center was like during the Inca Empire. In the late afternoon we will return to Cusco, where we will drop you off at your hotel.
